Larian Studios Reveal a New Divinity, Labeling it Their Most Ambitious RPG to Date
The buzz around the recent awards show has been intense, especially after presenter Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic image of a strange statue. The secret has been revealed. The acclaimed developer is working on a brand-new Divinity game.
Revealed to be Divinity, the game was presented with a bold trailer packed with striking imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the very unleashing of hell.
Not the Expected Sequel
For those hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. The studio clarified that a third Original Sin game to its venerated RPGs is not on the cards right now.
Nevertheless, the developer described this new Divinity as a continuation of the core franchise. This distinction hints that the team is likely crafting a real-time experience instead of another turn-based title. Currently, this is speculation, as only a announcement clip is available.
What Makes Divinity Special
The Divinity series is highly rated and arguably it sparked the contemporary revival of deep computer role-playing games. These games are known for rich lore, branching plots, and complex character building—qualities that later reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its universe is traditional swords and sorcery, what makes Divinity apart is the remarkable agency given to the player.
While numerous modern RPGs have pared back options, Divinity is brimming with niche playthroughs you can achieve by choosing a distinct build with a unique decision path.
The series is also notoriously flexible, letting players to experiment throughout the entire experience. Most missions can be solved in diverse methods, sometimes in unexpected fashion.
- You might find an answer because you heeded something a non-human character said.
- Or, you could overcome an obstacle by using the world itself in a inventive way.
A New Chapter Begins
It is this design philosophy that lead fans and critics to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games in history. Now, players can look forward to a new entry in this groundbreaking franchise.
